Requirements

Proper understanding of user requirements is critical when developing, designing, marketing and deploying detection systems.   I can advise on all aspects of matching detection systems to user requirements and help you find out what those requirements are.  Typically this may take into account detection performance, form factor, mobility, integration with other systems, usability and safety.

Technical and Literature Review

A large part of my work is carrying out reviews of a range of technologies, using the published literature and talking directly to researchers, government technical advisers, equipment vendors and users.  Much of this work is for government clients but it can also be of use to developers trying to understand the market for new technologies.

Evaluation and Standards

At the Home Office I planned and carried dozens of trials on detection equipment for the  Government.  I can do the same for you.  I design tests to be scientifically robust while being directly relevant to the user application.   Because trials can be time consuming to run I use a methodology that goes from simple and reproducible laboratory tests up to large-scale realistic operational simulations, using real target materials if required, but with the option of stopping at any stage to make changes to the system based on the early-stage results.  So you only commit to the first stage and progress to more complex tests when you are ready.

The result is a set of results which are yours to use as you need, but have the credibility of an independent expert.
